FCD:MP 14th October - Mallory Park, My Happy Place

Hopefully you have just read Tony's brilliant Mallory Park write up, so I figured now is the time to post my rundown from the day. So it's another month and another trip over to Mallory Park for more Full Circuit Drifting. Mallory appears to have become a part of my life recently, and in no way am I complaining! It always provides a great relaxed atmosphere, some great drifting and it’s a great way to use up my annual leave from work!

Octobers FCD:MP day turned out to be another fully booked event so I made the trip up there to meet Brother Jay, Paz & Euge in the JimsFactory MX5 & the yeahh mannn!S14. Also on the list of attendees were Phil Morrison in the famous Driftworks S15 along with James Robinson in the DW “on a budget” demo model S14a, Al Clark in his PS13, Kambo Lau in his S14a and loads more so an awesome day was on the cards.

Me & Euge got straight into filming & togging and here are some of the results...

Steve-o was also out in his freshly built Cream S13 which really did look stunning in the flesh and photographed so well!

Another car that was pleasing to the eyes was this black R32 Skyline. I’m very picky about styling on Nissans, but in my opinion this was just about right. Here it is tearing up the Devil’s Elbow.

Here’s a few of Jay & Paz who were constantly giving me something mental to point my camera at.

There were some interesting moments too, with Geordie Matt’s S14 turning into a fire ball whilst heading towards the chicane. Unfortunately I didn’t manage to grab any photos of it as the photographer side of my brain was taken over by the childish side of my brain so I was busy jumping up and down yelling how awesome it looked! The only way I can describe it to you is that it looked like he was driving on a magic carpet of fire.

The highlight of the day quite simply had to be Phil Morrison in the famous Driftworks S15. I'm sure you have seen the absolutely mental Gerard's entry video that is floating around the Internet at the minute. Well in my opinion the video doesn't portray just how freaking fast it really was. Whilst Phil was doing these ridiculous entries into Gerard's, I was about half way around the corner ready to get some nice smokey, panning shots. But because of the sheer speed Phil was pulling it was insanely difficult to follow him with the camera. I've never seen anyone pull that kind of speed around Gerard's before and it truly was amazing to watch.
Here's a couple of shots which I did manage to grab. Unfortunately they didn't come out very good, but the speed Phil was doing I couldn't keep up! Top driving Phil, we're not worthy.

I love Mallory Park and I personally think it is turning into the UK’s Ebisu circuit, with the open pit lane, full circuit drifting it’s possibly THE best drift practice day you can book. So, If you haven’t already, make sure you drop by the Driftworks forum and book yourself up for the next FCD:MP drift day, it’s worth every single penny.
Mallory Park. I salute you.

  2. thanks man! I try to get as many shots of the different parts of the track so I've got a good range to work on for the write up. For me it's probably better as i'm not taking photos for someone else's web site so i havn't got a set list of things to do. I can just take pictures of the shit i like!haha
But thanks man! glad to see the brothers like the photos!

  3. Nice pics and write up man! You're bang on about it being like a UK Ebisu (maybe not in layout but certainly in spirit!). Everyone keeps telling me how cool the fire looked too but I've only seen a couple of grainy/blurry shots.... I guess everyone else was busy exclaiming WTF!?!?! too! haha
