Pic(s) of the Day 13th October - Shu Namiki's N2 Levin

I spotted a photo of this car in a thread over on our beloved eight-six.co.uk the other day and decided to find out some more about it!

You all know that I love N2 Arched corolla's so it goes without saying that I am kinda keen on this one! I managed to find a great little feature over on a site called "TunerZine.com" with some great photos and a little bit about the spec. Nice find!

Turns out the car is owned by a Japanese guy called Shu Namiki and he apparently built the car to be thrown around a track as well as being used on the roads. It's a 1985 Corolla Levin with the full N2 wide arch kit. The N2 arches have been slightly worked on to allow Namiki-san to run some stunning SSR Formula Mesh rims in a true man's size of 15x9 ET:-27 up front & 15x10 ET:-40 at the rear. I'm jealous already.

The car also runs the famous TRD rear duck tail style wing but in true N2 car fashion it sports a GT wing on top as well for a touch more grip. The rear tailgate & wing is reinforced with a strengthening bar welded into the boot floor which is an interesting addition to chassis rigidity.

To ensure Shu's SSR Mesh rims stay firmly on the ground it also rolls on arguably the best dampers for an 86, Tokico HTS dampers which keep the front in check along side 12kg Bestex Springs. On the rear he uses TRD dampers with 8Kg Bestex Springs and to help lay the power down effectively and in a fun way! is a TRD 2 way diff.

Inside the car is the classic corolla combination of Bride bucket seat & a nardi wheel. Shu has also re worked his instrument cluster featuring various temp gauges and a larger rev counter.

Now down to the engine. It still runs the trust 16v 4AGE, but with a few nice tweaks to keep things interesting. It currently has Toda 82mm Pistons with Toda 264/272 Cams alongside the stronger AE92 Crankshaft & rods. Finally, making what I should image to be a fantastic noise are the Solex 44mm Carbs.

I really like this car, built well with some great choices on mods...and the wheels are immense!!
