The rain tried to stop us, it had no chance

Each month there is a highlight in my calendar, something to look forward to, a welcome break from work. Yup, you’ve guessed it, FCD:MP was here again and I couldn’t have been happier about it!

I had planned to travel up with Nightspirit brother, Richard “Euge” Bache in my E36 and the journey consisted of posh Marks & Spencer biscuits & Euge deciding he wants to buy my Beemer!

The weather had been pretty crap all the way there, so it wasn’t looking good on the “keeping dry” front but I was still eager to have some laughs, watch some skids & get some photos which is something Mallory Park full circuit drifting always delivers on.

We arrived to find Brother Jay present in the JimsFactory missile Miata, Brother Paz in the S14, Al Clark in his bright yellow PS13 Silvia & brother Mike in his immense E36 all ready to make the most of the spectacular Mallory Park circuit. After the obligatory cup of tea to try and warm up, I set up the camera gear and headed straight for one of the Mallory Esses.

I’m glad I did as Paz was killing it, pulling some awesome angle & speed, which in the wet was a risky thing to be doing! The JimsFactory MX5 was getting fired into the apex far quicker than most the guys with posh Nissan’s but as Jay always says, “you’ve just gotta go fast man!”

It was great to see Al Clark out there as well in his fantastic bright Yellow Silvia, as it was such a dull day that car just jumped out at you and is just the kind of focus point my camera was searching for. Some of the runs where Paz & Al were following each other were just pure class, just the kind of thing that makes the trip to Mallory Park so worthwhile.

After the break for lunch the heavens opened, oh mannn did it rain! Me & Euge made the quick dash over to the Beemer, set the heaters on full and sat watching the skids from the comfort of E36 sport seats :D

Once the rain cleared up it left an incredible light that only the aftermath of a storm can leave. Pools of water, seriously bright rays of sunlight & a huge rainbow behind us meant getting photos was going to be good fun! The sun was that bright that where we were standing you could barely see the cars emerge, and then you’d just catch the initiation into the corner firing water & bits of mud at me. It resulted in some pretty cool shots so very much worth the wait.

Yet again, it was another immense day run by the guys @ Mallory Park & Bob who organises the FCD:MP days. In my previous write up’s I haven’t really given too much of a mention to the guys that make it happen, but we are all incredibly grateful for having such an awesome track to come and drift at. I love going and taking photos there, everyone enjoys driving there & it’s THE best atmosphere you’ll find at a drift practice day.

P.S: There was also a damn cool 2 door Levin, but don't worry I plan to bring you those photos in a separate post. So stay tuned!
